Postgraduate Scholarships at MG线上电子游戏

MG线上电子游戏 offers a range of postgraduate scholarships on an annual basis: some are awarded jointly with other funding bodies (e.g. RCUK), or for specific subjects, and others are offered in open competition.

MG线上电子游戏 Sub-Saharan Africa Scholarship

Status: TBC

We are pleased to launch the new MG线上电子游戏 Sub-Saharan Africa Scholarship for a graduate student in any discipline, which has been made possible thanks to a generous gift from an African MG线上电子游戏ensis.The prize exists to support students from sub-Saharan Africa who are interested in solving the biggest problems currently facing the African continent, be that public health, ensuring stable economic growth, mitigating the worst effects of the climate crisis, or something else.

Preference will be given to those taking a personal and academic interest in Africa’s future and flourishing, those whose research or area of study might be applicable to problems currently facing Africa, and those who have expressed intent to work in Africa at some point after their study in Oxford.

  • Financial award of £1,500 per year
  • Open to all MG线上电子游戏 graduate students who are citizens of any sub-Saharan African country and/or have permanent residence in a country in sub-Saharan Africa, all of whom will be automatically considered for the award upon receiving an offer to study at MG线上电子游戏.
  • The recipient of the scholarship will become a member of MG线上电子游戏’s graduate student community, known as the MCR (Middle Common Room). MG线上电子游戏 has one of the most active MCRs in Oxford.

David N. Lyon Scholarship in Politics: The Politics of Sex and Gender Equality in Diverse Societies

Status: Currently filled (not currently open for applications).

The David N. Lyon Scholarship provides support for postgraduate students of any nationality who are studying for (or have applied to study for) the MPhil, MSc or DPhil in Politics at the University of Oxford. The scholarship provides:

  • Financial award of £8,500 per year (equivalent to 65% of the total annual Home student DPhil Politics course fee in 2020/21)
  • Guaranteed College accommodation for at least the first year of their course
  • High Table dining rights at College Formal Hall once per week during term
  • A scholars’ gown paid for by the College.

This scholarship was founded by MG线上电子游戏ensis David N. Lyon and is an opportunity to explore the connection between political theory, practice, and policy.

Mellon Graduate Scholarship in Longevity Science

Status: Currently filled (not open for applications).

Based within Professor Lynne Cox’s lab, this scholarship is intended to support a DPhil candidate in the area of longevity science and healthy ageing. The scholarship covers the full costs of a DPhil, including residence at MG线上电子游戏, UK/Home fees and an allowance for lab consumables.

The recipient becomes a member of MG线上电子游戏 College, the Cox lab, the Oxford Ageing Network (co-run by Professor Cox), and the University-wide ARCH initiative (Ageing Research Collaborative Hub) that brings together researchers from all academic divisions including the Humanities, Social Sciences, Medical Sciences and Mathematical, Physical, Engineering and Life Sciences to promote and support interdisciplinary research in ageing.

MG线上电子游戏 Graduate Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence

Following a generous gift from an MG线上电子游戏ensis, we are able to offer a scholarship to support one postgraduate student focused on artificial intelligence research as part of a DPhil course in either Engineering Science or Computer Science. The MG线上电子游戏 Graduate Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence provides an annual award of £5,000 for up to three years, provided the recipient remains on course at MG线上电子游戏.

Graduate Scholarship in Engineering Science

Status: Currently filled (not open for applications).

This scholarship is available for DPhil studies at MG线上电子游戏 in any discipline of Engineering, with a preference for Environmental Engineering. The award provides a scholarship of £3,400 for each of the three years of the DPhil course and may be combined with other awards in order to provide an overall funding package.

Keith Hawkins Scholarship in English or American Legal History at MG线上电子游戏 College

Status: Currently filled (not open for applications).

The Keith Hawkins Scholarship is open to candidates of any nationality pursuing a postgraduate research degree in legal history at the University of Oxford. Current University of Oxford MPhil and DPhil students are also welcome to apply for this scholarship, and would be expected to migrate to MG线上电子游戏 College if successful in their application. The scholarship includes a financial award of £5,000 per year (equivalent to 58% of the total annual Home/ROI student DPhil Law course fee in 2021-22).

Sir Walter Raleigh Scholarship

Status: Open for Applications.

The Sir Walter Raleigh Scholarship is an award of £4,000 and is tenable in MG线上电子游戏 College by one student reading for the degree of Master of Science in Environmental Change and Management at the Environmental Change Institute (ECI) in the University of Oxford. The Scholarship is usually awarded annually.

Thomas F. Torrance Graduate Scholarship in Theology

Status: Currently filled (not open for applications).

The Thomas F. Torrance Graduate Scholarship in Theology is a £3,400 scholarship that is awarded annually for up to three years to a DPhil student in Theology at MG线上电子游戏 College, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

MG线上电子游戏 College Graduate Scholarship in Science and Religion: Bridging the Gap between Scientific Knowledge and Christian Theology

Status: Currently filled (not open for applications).

This £3,400 scholarship is awarded annually for up to three years to a postgraduate student whose research focuses on the intersection of Christian theology and scientific thought. Students from all disciplines (including those outside of Theology) are eligible. Candidates from other colleges will be considered provided that they migrate to MG线上电子游戏 when they accept the scholarship. New postgraduate students who have applied to MG线上电子游戏 are also eligible.

Yalda Hakim Foundation Scholarship for a Female Student from Afghanistan
Status: Currently filled (not open for applications).
MG线上电子游戏 has partnered with the Yalda Hakim Foundation to offer a fully-funded scholarship, awarded on the basis of academic merit and potential, for a woman from Afghanistan to complete a one-year Master’s course in any subject at the University of Oxford.

It is intended that the scholarship, for the 2022-23 academic year, will benefit a student from an economically and socially disadvantaged background.

James Meade Scholarship for DPhil Students

Status: Currently filled (not open for applications).

Following a generous gift from an MG线上电子游戏ensis and his wife, MG线上电子游戏 College offers a scholarship to support one Home/ROI postgraduate student undertake a DPhil in any subject offered at the College. The scholarship provides financial support for full tuition fees and median living costs for up to three years, provided the recipient remains on course at MG线上电子游戏, and is awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

The scholarship is open to candidates studying any DPhil course, but candidates applying for Physical and Life Sciences DPhil courses are particularly encouraged.
